PARC partnered with the Paul Nicholas School of Performing Arts to present Rottingdean X Factor in aid of the Rottingdean Terraces Stage appeal. 43 contestants aged between 7 and 18 entered the auditions in May and 16 talented young people were selected to perform in the final on 18th June at the Village Hall. The audience was entertained by a very high standard of performance supported by the Brighton Singing School and entertained during the intervals by the very cute infants of the Paul Nicholas School.
The panel of celebrity judges who kindly agreed to give their time numbered Julie Cowell (no introduction needed), TV actor from “The Bill” Chris Ellison, TV actress from “Eastenders” Carol Harrison, local talented singers Alison David and Worthing based Rachel Hawker.
The winner of the under 12 heat was Saffron Barker who performed an energetic rendition of “I Wish” and the runner up was Ruby Sudlow with “Inside Out”.
The under 18’s produced a terrific winner with Amy Moore whose interpretation of “Nothing Compares to You” was stunningly moving. The runner up in this group was Kirstie Bridle with “Hurt”.
Local young people ran the bar, supervised the entrance, ran the raffle and helped with setting and clearing up. Thanks to Adam, Lee, Sam, Hugo, Nick, Megan, Keely, Brandon, all the contestants and performers.
Thanks to Julie Bitout & Hayley Ball of Paul Nicholas School of Performing Arts, Gary Whalen of Brighton Singing School for making it happen and of course everyone who bought a ticket, donated a raffle prize or advertised in the programme.
